Wallington Child Sexual Abuser
In a recent case that has shocked the local community, Albert Wallace, a 38-year-old resident of Wallington, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison after admitting to indecent exposure on a bus traveling from Morden station to Croydon. The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, December 6, around 6 pm, when Wallace was observed by a 17-year-old passenger engaging in inappropriate behavior.

The young victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, recounted his distress in a statement read aloud in Croydon Magistrates’ Court. He described how he looked over and saw Wallace, who had undone his trousers and was exposing himself with an erect penis. The teenager expressed his shock and disbelief at witnessing such conduct from an adult man in a public setting, emphasizing his feelings of disgust at the incident.

Wallace’s history of sexual misconduct is well-documented. In June 2007, he was sentenced to 16 months in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a minor. At that time, Wallace approached a 15-year-old boy and a girl at a bus stop in Banstead High Street. He offered to give them a lift to the boy’s home, but instead drove them to his residence, where he led them through his rear garden to a shed converted into a bedroom.

Once inside, Wallace locked the door and sat on the bed with the boy, who was invited to undress further but refused. Wallace then stripped down to his underwear, cuddled the boy, made sexual comments, and inappropriately touched him. Despite repeated requests to return home, the boy and his female friend were eventually dropped off outside Tesco in Banstead High Street. The incident was reported to the police, leading to Wallace’s arrest and subsequent conviction.

Wallace pleaded guilty to the charges of sexual activity with a minor under 16 and was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on June 22, 2007. His sentence was ordered to run concurrently with a two-month sentence for breaching a community rehabilitation order. Detective Constable Jo Farrelly commented on the case, reaffirming the police’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the community and thoroughly investigating such offenses.

Today’s court proceedings also included the testimony of the 17-year-old bus passenger, who expressed his feelings of shock and disappointment at witnessing Wallace’s indecent act. The court’s decision to jail Wallace reflects the seriousness with which these offenses are treated, especially given his prior convictions for similar conduct. Wallace’s actions have once again brought attention to the importance of safeguarding minors and maintaining public safety in the boroughs of Wallington, Croydon, and Banstead.
