ALBERT GAGO AND HIS SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN LONDON BUSES
A man identified as Albert Gago has been convicted and sentenced for a series of disturbing sexual assaults targeting young girls on public transportation within London.Gago, aged 65 and a resident of Hackney, was sentenced to a total of two years and three months in prison at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, October 7.
The court proceedings revealed that Gago was responsible for sexually assaulting a total of eight female victims, whose ages ranged from as young as 12 to 16 years old.
These distressing incidents occurred over a span of several months, specifically from September 2021 through June 2022.
The attacks took place on various bus routes serving the neighborhoods of Enfield, Hackney, and Camden, areas well-known within Greater London.
Following his conviction, Gago will be required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a legal requirement aimed at monitoring his activities and ensuring community safety.
Law enforcement authorities launched an extensive investigation into these troubling incidents after receiving multiple reports from victims and witnesses about the assaults.
The police efforts included a detailed analysis of CCTV footage, which ultimately led to Gago’s arrest.
He was apprehended at his residence in Hackney, where authorities also recovered clothing items that matched descriptions of what Gago was seen wearing in the surveillance footage captured during the assaults.
Detective James Eccleston, who led the inquiry, publicly stated, “Gago was a prolific offender who targeted young girls as they used public transport.
He is dangerous, and I am pleased that this offending has resulted in a custodial sentence.” He emphasized the importance of community cooperation and the bravery of the victims who came forward.
“I would like to praise the bravery of the young victims, who reported the offences to police and supported us throughout the investigation as we took Gago to court.
We have supported them along the way,” Eccleston added.
The Metropolitan Police has reiterated its commitment to tackling violence, especially crimes that threaten women and girls.
The force has emphasized that women and girls have the right to feel safe at all times, whether during the day or night, in public spaces or within their own homes.
