July 2012 Hull man sexually abused girl who told his partner he was cheating A MAN sexually assaulted a girl for revenge after she told his partner he was having an affair. Alan Grahame Wooldridge, 40, attacked the young girl twice in one day after she told his partner he was cheating on her. A jury of seven men and five women at Hull Crown Court found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault after returning a unanimous verdict. Jailing him for eight years, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC said the girl had been profoundly affected. He said: “Your sexual depravity has visited upon her significant and long- lasting repercussions, which I cannot and will not ignore. “I hope the police will be able to point her in the direction of organisations and groups that can help her. “I sincerely hope she can begin to recover now.” Wooldridge, of Bainton Grove, west Hull, was caught after the girl complained to the police last year. However, the girl had to relive her ordeal in court after he denied the attacks and the case went to trial. Judge Richardson QC ordered Wooldridge to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He said: “You have forced a young female to relive in open court the two episodes of horror you visited upon her. “You are a depraved man. You were unfaithful to your partner and this girl played a role in the discovery of that. “Shortly after the discovery of your infidelity, you sexually abused her. She was confused and scared. “There can be no doubt she was scared and didn’t feel courageous enough to complain. Eventually she did and you have been brought to justice.” The judge said the consequences of the sexual attacks on the young girl had been severe. “She has plainly been adversely affected,” he said. “I do not underestimate the consequences for her.” Wooldridge, who has previous convictions for benefit fraud, dishonesty and for repeatedly driving while disqualified, has also been given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for ten years banning him from unsupervised contact with children. He has also been banned from working with children. Detective Sergeant Craig Nicholson, who led the investigation into the sexual attacks, said: “Wooldridge is a horrible, nasty man who has shown no remorse. The victim has shown great courage in reporting it and seeing it through. “She had the option of giving video evidence but she wanted to face him in court. “Her evidence was compelling. She has been incredibly brave.” He said the eight-year sentence should send out a clear message about how seriously sex attacks are taken by the court. “The sentence will hopefully send out the message as to how serious this type of offending is,” he said.
