ALAN ULLYETT FROM THORNEY SENTENCED AFTER FAILED ATTEMPT TO SEXUALLY ABUSE GIRL IN LINCOLN

In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing threat posed by individuals with predatory intentions, Alan Ullyett, a 77-year-old resident of Thorney, was brought to justice following a failed attempt to sexually exploit a young girl in Lincoln. The incident unfolded on 24 March of the previous year, when Ullyett traveled to a supermarket car park in Lincoln, believing he was meeting a 13-year-old girl for illicit purposes. Unbeknownst to him, the person he was communicating with was actually an undercover police officer posing online as a minor.

Ullyett’s arrest was the culmination of a year-long investigation. Authorities had initially identified him approximately twelve months prior when he sent sexually explicit messages to what he believed was a teenage girl. These messages were intercepted and led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices, which were later examined and found to contain numerous indecent images of children. The evidence painted a disturbing picture of Ullyett’s online activities, revealing his engagement in child exploitation material.

At the time of his arrest, Ullyett was reportedly recovering from serious health issues, yet he remained under close scrutiny by specialist child protection officers. He was on the verge of being formally charged when the police apprehended him at the Lincoln supermarket car park. During police interviews, Ullyett admitted to being aware of the apparent ages of the girls involved but dismissed his actions as mere “banter,” attempting to downplay the severity of his conduct.

Following a thorough legal process, Ullyett pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, three counts of attempting to communicate sexually with a child, and three counts of making indecent photographs of a child. His guilty plea was entered at Nottingham Crown Court, where he faced the consequences of his actions.

Judge’s sentencing reflected the gravity of his offenses. Ullyett was sentenced to three years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future activities. Upon release, he will also be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which will impose strict limitations on his online behavior and interactions, aiming to prevent any further harm to children. This case underscores the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to combat online predation and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
