ALAN THURSBY FROM CHIPPENHAM ADMITS TO MULTIPLE RAPE OFFENSES AGAINST CHILD

In April 2021, a man from Chippenham was found to have repeatedly raped a girl under the age of 13 over several years.

Alan Thursby, aged 23, appeared before Swindon Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to charges of raping a child under 13 and to a count of rape.

Crown prosecutor Tessa Hingston stated that Thursby, residing on Royal Close, assaulted the young girl on at least 20 occasions, with the abuse beginning in 2014.

Judge Jason Taylor QC warned Thursby to anticipate a lengthy prison sentence.

The court ordered a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric assessment.

Thursby was granted conditional bail and will return to court for sentencing on 18 June.
