ALAN STRINGER AND HIS HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN WARWICKSHIRE
A convicted serial child sex offender from the Warwickshire area has been sentenced to prison after admitting to attempts at engaging a minor in sexual communication. The case highlights the disturbing nature of his misconduct and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable children.
Over a period of several days in November, Alan Stringer, aged 66, engaged in a pattern of inappropriate and illegal online behavior.
Using social media, he persistently sent explicit messages and photographs of himself to what was believed to be the profile of a 13-year-old girl.
His communications progressed to the point where he explicitly suggested that they meet in person for sexual activity.
The alarming behaviour did not go unnoticed.
Officers from Warwickshire Police’s Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team became aware of Stringer’s activities and swiftly acted.
A coordinated police raid was conducted at his residence in Warwickshire, specifically at his home on Shuckburgh Grove, Leamington.
This operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat online exploitation and to dismantle networks that attempt to groom children for sexual abuse.
It is important to note that Alan Stringer’s criminal record includes prior convictions for similar offences.
He was released from prison in July 2022 after serving a sentence for previous sexual misconduct.
Despite having been subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order—a legal measure intended to prevent further offending—he was found to have breached this order specifically through his online communications.
During police interviews, Stringer admitted to the offences, acknowledging the illegal nature of his actions.
He also confessed to violating the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, further demonstrating a disregard for legal restrictions designed to protect the public.
The case was brought before Warwick Crown Court on Friday, January 20.
In a court hearing, the defendant faced multiple charges, including two counts of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, one count of arranging or facilitating sexual activity with a child, and one count of attempting to engage a child in sexual communication.
These charges reflect the severity and continuous nature of his misconduct.
The judge sentenced Alan Stringer to a substantial term of four years and three months in prison.
This sentence was handed down after he entered a guilty plea to all charges, recognizing both the breach of court orders and the attempted grooming activities.
Commenting on the case, Detective Constable Adam James from Warwickshire Police's Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team emphasized the seriousness of Stringer’s actions.
He stated, “The social media account Stringer was communicating with clearly stated that the owner was a 13-year-old girl yet he continued to send explicit messages over several days.
His grooming behaviour was disgusting and despicable, and we know the profound damage that offenders like Stringer can inflict on children.
The fact we are able to identify this behaviour and bring offenders to justice should serve as a poignant warning to anyone involved in such activities.” This case underscores the vigilance of Warwickshire law enforcement in safeguarding children from online predators and highlights the importance of persistent investigative work in bringing offenders to justice.
The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activity to authorities to prevent such heinous crimes.
