FORMER COVENTRY TEACHER JAILED FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES
A former educator who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl inside a school storage closet has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.Alan Rees, residing on Modbury Close in Styvechale, Coventry, will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life following his eventual conviction for the assault that occurred in 1982.
His victim reported the incident to authorities for the first time in 2016, leading Rees to admit to two counts of indecent assault on the teenager between February and December of that year.
The first assault happened at a school in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, where Rees was employed at the time.
The second occurred at his residence on Baldslow Road in Hastings.
The 59-year-old, who was employed as a driver, received a 30-month prison sentence at Hove Crown Court earlier this month.
Additionally, Rees will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that significantly limits his contact with children.
