2008: MARRIED MAN JAILED FOR SCHOOLBOY SEX ATTACKS
A Dudley man aged 58, characterized as 'respectable and hardworking,' has been sentenced to 21 months after being convicted of multiple heinous sex offenses committed against a schoolboy.
Alan Redhead from Marigold Crescent, Wrens Nest, admitted to eight counts involving indecency with a minor, engaging in sexual activity in front of a child, and inciting a child to commit sexual acts.
Judge John Warner remarked that he believed Redhead had groomed his young victim through the use of pornographic magazines and that the abuse was a regular occurrence.
Addressing the court, Judge Warner stated, "I have a public duty.
That means it is going to have to be imprisonment." Prosecutor Mr.
Richard Bond recounted that Redhead had told the boy, "You have fulfilled my fantasy.
Don't tell anyone.
It is our secret," which contributed to the child's fear and eventual confession.
Police seized Redhead’s computer and several pornographic magazines when they searched his residence.
During the hearing, defense lawyer Mr.
Peter Arnold pointed out Redhead’s longstanding military service in both the Army and Royal Air Force, as well as his nearly 40-year marriage, and expressed that his client felt remorse.
Furthermore, Redhead was ordered to sign the sex offender register for ten years.
