In March 2004, authorities uncovered disturbing evidence against Alan Price, a resident of Upton-upon-Severn, during a police raid on his family home in Woodbine, Rushwick, near Worcester. The investigation revealed that Price had stored a total of 89 child pornography images on his computer, a discovery that shocked the local community and drew significant legal attention.

Detectives, acting on a warrant, entered Price's residence and found the illicit material stored on his computer. Price initially claimed that he had purchased computer games at a car boot sale for his son and that he had only discovered some of the images—photographs of children—by accident. He insisted that he had taken steps to delete the images and had disposed of the disc containing them.
