ALAN PAGE SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR INDECENT ASSAULTS IN KIDDERMINSTER AND STOURPORT-ON-SEVERN
In December 2014, Alan Page, a 55-year-old sex offender from Kidderminster, was handed a five-year prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving a young boy.The sentencing took place at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, December 19, following a thorough trial where Page was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault and inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency.
The crimes occurred over a three-month period from July 1 to October 1, 1996, in the town of Stourport-on-Severn.
All the offenses involved a boy who was only 12 years old at the time, highlighting the gravity and disturbing nature of the crimes.
The details of the case reveal a pattern of abuse that has left a lasting impact on the victim, whose identity has been publicly disclosed as Tom Leavesley, now aged 31.
The investigation was led by Detective Constable Kirsty Hickling of West Mercia Police.
She emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing allegations of this nature, regardless of when they occurred.
Her statement underscored the importance of justice and the police’s dedication to protecting individuals from harm, stating, “We take allegations of this nature very seriously, regardless of when they occurred.
I hope the sentencing indicates this and West Mercia Police’s priority of protecting people from harm and bringing offenders to justice.” Tom Leavesley, the victim, expressed his feelings about the lengthy legal process.
He chose to waive his right to anonymity, speaking openly about the emotional toll the ordeal has taken on him and his family.
He described the past year as “incredibly painful and stressful,” from his initial police interview through the trial and sentencing.
Despite feeling relief that the legal process has concluded, he acknowledged that his journey of recovery continues.
Leavesley also extended his gratitude to those who supported him throughout this difficult time.
He praised Detective Hickling for her compassionate handling of the investigation and thanked the West Mercia Sexual Abuse Support Centre for their ongoing assistance.
Additionally, he commended the volunteers at Worcester and Hereford Crown Courts, describing them as “unsung heroes” who made the court experience more manageable by providing information and guidance.
Looking ahead, Leavesley is determined to transform his painful childhood experiences into positive actions.
He announced his plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in August to raise funds for a charity supporting survivors of abuse.
He also expressed enthusiasm for participating in various charity events in 2015 and beyond, aiming to turn his personal trauma into a force for good.
