ALAN NOVAK FROM HARTLEPOOL SENTENCED FOR YEARS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
In November 2020, a disturbing case of child sexual abuse emerged involving Alan Novak, a 65-year-old man from Hartlepool.Novak was found guilty of subjecting a young girl to repeated acts of sexual assault over an extended period, a revelation that shocked the local community and prompted a serious criminal investigation.
The abuse came to light when the young girl confided in another adult about her experiences.
Her disclosure was prompted by her recent education on personal safety, specifically through the NSPCC’s PANTS rule, which is designed to teach children about body safety and boundaries.
The PANTS rule emphasizes that a child's body belongs to them, that their private parts are covered by their underwear, and that no one should ask to see or touch those parts.
It also encourages children to speak out to a trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable or threatened.
Following her disclosure, Durham Constabulary launched a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
The police quickly gathered evidence and subsequently charged Novak with multiple serious offenses.
Specifically, he faced four counts of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13, along with an additional charge of causing a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Novak, who resides at Park Square in Hartlepool, denied all charges during the trial.
However, after a thorough trial at Durham Crown Court, the jury found Novak guilty of all charges.
The court sentenced him to four and a half years in prison, amounting to 54 months.
In addition to his imprisonment, Novak is required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm to children.
This case underscores the importance of child safety education and the vigilance required by adults to protect vulnerable children from abuse.
The community and authorities continue to emphasize the need for awareness and proactive measures to prevent such heinous acts from occurring in the future.
