ALAN MEULBROUCK CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN GRIMSBY - SENTENCED AT GRIMSBY CROWN COURT
In a disturbing case uncovered in Grimsby, police authorities revealed that they discovered a significant collection of indecent images of children on the laptop of local resident Alan Meulbrouck.The investigation, which unfolded in August 2013, led to the seizure of hundreds of such images, raising serious concerns about the safety and exploitation of minors.
According to court proceedings at Grimsby Crown Court, Alan Meulbrouck, aged 48 and residing on Willingham Street in Grimsby, pleaded guilty to the possession and creation of a total of 782 indecent images of children.
These images were produced over a period spanning from December 2009 to December of the previous year, indicating a prolonged period of illicit activity.
The prosecution, led by Jeremy Evans, explained that the police action was initiated after online protection investigators provided information that prompted a search of Meulbrouck’s residence.
During the search, authorities discovered that the images had been deleted from the device, but their presence was confirmed through forensic analysis.
The images were classified as indecent, and their possession was deemed a serious criminal offense.
In his defense, Andrew Bailey highlighted that the number of images was relatively small compared to other cases, and most of the images found were classified at the lowest level of severity.
Bailey also emphasized that Meulbrouck had no prior criminal record, which was considered during sentencing.
Addressing the court, Recorder Euan Duff expressed grave concern over the implications of such material.
He stated, “The more people who observe images of this sort, the more it encourages real children, real people to be abused in order to have these images taken.
If there weren’t viewing of these images, there would likely be less abuse of these children.” As part of his sentence, Meulbrouck, who is currently unemployed, was subjected to a three-year supervision order.
This includes mandatory participation in a sex offenders’ treatment program, a five-year sexual offences prevention order, and registration as a sex offender for a period of five years.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which such offenses are treated and the ongoing efforts to prevent further harm to vulnerable children in the Grimsby area.
