Kirkby Child Sexual Abuser
In November 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving a man from Kirkby who committed a heinous act against a young girl during a social gathering. Alan James McLoughlin, aged 37, was convicted of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child under the age of 13. The incident took place at a New Year’s Eve party in 2016, where McLoughlin exposed himself to a young girl, who was of infant school age, and then proceeded to ask her to 'kiss it.'

Following the incident, the child's mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, spoke out about the emotional toll it has taken on her family. She recounted that the family had no idea what had transpired until the morning after the event, when her daughter confided in her brother about what had happened. The mother described the experience as 'horrendous and horrific,' emphasizing the pain and distress caused by McLoughlin’s actions.

McLoughlin was brought before Liverpool Crown Court, where a jury unanimously found him guilty of the charges. As a result, he was sentenced to 27 months in prison. Additionally, he is required to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses.

The victim’s mother expressed a sense of relief now that McLoughlin has been sentenced. She stated, 'It’s just been a hell for our family over the past two years.' She also shared that her daughter, who has seen McLoughlin in the street on occasion, would become panicked and upset, highlighting the ongoing emotional impact of the incident. The mother concluded by saying, 'I’m just happy he’s been found guilty and now can’t harm any more children.' Her words reflect a mixture of relief and hope for her daughter’s future safety, knowing that justice has been served in this troubling case.
