ALAN JOLLY SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN TREDEGAR: EX-COUNCILLOR JAILED IN CARDIFF COURT
In a case that has spanned over two decades, Alan Jolly, a 68-year-old former councillor from Tredegar, was sentenced to five years in prison at Cardiff Crown Court for the serious crime of rape.The incident in question took place more than twenty years ago, involving a teenage girl who was only 15 at the time.
Judge Gerald Price addressed Jolly directly during the sentencing, stating, "Doubtless you thought justice would never catch up with you but you were wrong.
You have plied this girl with drink and you abused her trust." The judge’s words underscored the gravity of the offense and the betrayal of trust involved.
The court heard that the assault occurred when the girl was just 15 years old, and Jolly, who was then an adult, entered her bed and committed the act of rape.
