KIRKCALDY PENSIONER JAILED FOR POSSESSION OF ILLEGAL IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
Alan Harrison, a pensioner from Kirkcaldy, was convicted after a trial of downloading indecent images of children. He admitted to possessing extreme pornographic images, which included content depicting humans engaged in sexual activities with animals, and was found guilty of downloading such material.
The charges specify that Harrison, aged 68 and residing in Lammermuir Place, downloaded these indecent images at an address in John O' Groats and elsewhere between January 1, 2012, and October 29, 2022.
Additionally, between October 16 and 26, 2022, he possessed extreme material that detailed in 'explicit and realistic detail' acts of humans and animals.
During the court proceedings, his solicitor argued that Harrison 'downloaded the images without knowing the full content' and 'did delete them,' and claimed he was 'not aware that the bestiality images were illegal.' Despite this, Sheriff Neil Wilson described the report as 'disturbing' and expressed skepticism about Harrison's claimed ignorance of the material's illegality.
The sheriff emphasized the serious nature of the offenses, noting the collection of numerous Category A, B, and C images, and described Harrison's conduct as 'persistent' and 'pre-meditated.' As a result, Alan Harrison was sentenced to 12 months in jail for his actions.
