ALAN GREEN, THE LONDON SEX PREDATOR, CONVICTED OF RAPE IN GREENWICH AND BLACKHEATH
In a series of disturbing incidents that shook the Greenwich area of London, Alan Green, aged 39, has been found guilty of multiple sexual assault and rape offences committed against two women in separate attacks.The convictions were handed down at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, 25 November, following a detailed investigation that linked Green to the crimes through forensic evidence.
The first assault occurred early on Saturday, 9 March, at approximately 4:30 a.m.
when a woman in her 50s was walking across Blackheath Common on her way to work.
She noticed a man sitting on a bench with a bicycle resting beside him.
Initially, she did not find his presence alarming, as she was accustomed to seeing cyclists in the area at that time of day.
However, as she approached, the man suddenly stood up and began walking toward her with the bicycle.
Without warning, he pushed her to the ground and attempted to carry out a sexual assault, specifically trying to rape her.
The woman resisted, fighting to retrieve her bag as the attacker fled the scene on his bicycle.
Traumatized but able to make her way to her workplace, she immediately informed her colleagues, who then contacted the police.
The second incident took place on Saturday, 2 June, at around 2:00 a.m.
near Tunnel Avenue, SE10.
A woman in her twenties was on the phone with a friend as she approached a footbridge.
She noticed a man passing by her, then turning back in her direction, which made her feel uneasy.
Suddenly, she was grabbed by the suspect, who pulled her into nearby bushes.
Despite her efforts to fight him off, she was subjected to a brutal attack, being raped three times during the assault.
The attacker then escaped on his bicycle, leaving the victim shaken but able to reach home and alert the police.
Following these incidents, law enforcement launched a comprehensive investigation.
Forensic evidence collected from the crime scenes led to the identification of Alan Green as the suspect.
He was arrested at his residence in Thanington Court, SE9, on Wednesday, 19 June.
During police interviews, Green chose to remain silent, answering no comment to all questions.
The case proceeded through the judicial system, culminating in his conviction on multiple counts of rape and digital penetration.
Green is scheduled for sentencing at Woolwich Crown Court on 13 January 2020, where he faces potential significant prison time for his crimes.
