Beaconsfield Child Sexual Abuser
In December 2000, Alan Foster, a man residing on Cherry Tree Road in Beaconsfield, was sentenced to a seven-year prison term after being found guilty of sexually abusing three young girls. The court proceedings were marked by emotional scenes as relatives of the victims, who are all minors and cannot be publicly identified for legal reasons, wept openly in the courtroom. Judge Christopher Tyrer, presiding over the case at Aylesbury Crown Court, emphasized the profound and lasting harm caused by Foster's actions, describing the damage inflicted on the victims as "incalculable."

Foster, aged 48 at the time, had previously pleaded guilty to a series of serious sexual offences involving the three girls. The court heard that he had exploited the trust placed in him by both the children and their families, which allowed him to carry out his heinous acts without immediate suspicion. The victims, all of whom were under the age of nine, endured a series of sexual assaults that left deep scars.

One of the victims' mothers expressed her outrage and called for harsher sentences for offenders like Foster, stating, "No paedophile should be let out on the streets, they should all get life." The case revealed that Foster had been considered a "dangerous paedophile" by authorities, largely because he had managed to gain the confidence of his victims and their parents before committing his crimes.

The court was informed that Foster had gone to disturbing lengths to document his abuse. Police discovered videos he had taken with a hand-held camera, which showed him sexually abusing two girls as young as eight. These recordings ultimately led to his arrest when they were found at an address in London. Further evidence included a diary kept by one of the victims, containing pornographic writings, and underwear that Foster had given to one of the girls, which added to the evidence against him.

Foster's criminal record included previous admissions of two indecent assaults on an eight-year-old girl earlier in the year, another indecent assault on a different eight-year-old girl the previous year, and six additional offences involving a third victim. These included four counts of indecent assault and two counts of inciting her to commit acts of gross indecency.

Throughout the trial, it was noted that the children had remained silent about their abuse, and Foster had effectively silenced and manipulated them into loyalty, preventing them from speaking out. His defense attorney, Timothy Forte, described Foster as an "introverted, sad, and somewhat broken man," who had lost everything dear to him—his partner of 14 years, his business, and his social circle. Forte also mentioned that Foster claimed to have been sexually abused as a child himself, an experience he did not wish to use as an excuse but acknowledged as a factor contributing to his depression.

Foster had recalled suffering sexual abuse at the age of 11 and had experienced a mental breakdown while in custody. Despite these revelations, Judge Tyrer emphasized the severity of Foster's crimes, stating that the evidence clearly marked him as a "dangerous paedophile." The judge pointed out that Foster's previous conviction, although somewhat dated, was relevant, and expressed concern over his lack of insight into the full impact of his actions.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Tyrer condemned Foster for abusing the trust of the children and their families, describing the betrayal as "total and appalling." He highlighted that Foster's motives were solely for his own sexual gratification, with little regard for the devastating psychological effects on his victims. The judge underscored that the damage inflicted was beyond measure.

As part of his sentence, Foster was ordered to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities after his release from prison. The case served as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who exploit trust and manipulate vulnerable children for their own depraved purposes.
