Gravesend Child Sexual Abuser
In a case that has shocked the local community of Gravesend and the wider Kent area, Alan Clarke, aged 31, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 13 and a half years for heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl aged just 10 years old.

The disturbing incidents took place over a period of approximately one year, during which Clarke repeatedly assaulted the young victim. The offences included three counts of sexual assault and one count of inciting or causing a girl to engage in sexual activity. These charges were brought against him after a thorough investigation by Kent Police.

Clarke, who resides on Pier Road in Gravesend, maintained his innocence throughout the trial held at Maidstone Crown Court. Despite his denial, the jury found him guilty of all charges after deliberating on the evidence presented. The sentencing took place on March 6 at the same court, marking a significant moment of justice for the victim and her family.

In addition to his prison sentence, Clarke was issued a sexual offences prevention order, which aims to restrict his activities and protect the community from further harm. Furthermore, upon his eventual release from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and community safety.

Detective Sergeant Jayne Thomas, who is part of Kent Police’s public protection unit, expressed her views on the case, stating, “I respect the judge’s sentencing in this particular matter, as well as the duty carried out by the jury – such trials are wholly unpleasant to have to be a part of.” She emphasized the gravity of Clarke’s crimes and the importance of community safety.

Sergeant Thomas added, “The sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his eventual release, providing further reassurances to the community.” She highlighted the police’s commitment to prioritizing the victim’s well-being and ensuring justice is served, offering support and encouragement to others who may have experienced similar abuse.

“Kent Police’s absolute focus is the victim in such matters, as well as providing them with the justice they so rightly deserve in order to have some closure and move forward with their lives. I wish this brave young victim and family the very best for the future,” she concluded.

Authorities continue to urge anyone who has experienced abuse or has information related to such crimes to come forward and report it to the police. They assured the public that all reports are handled with respect and dignity, reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals and preventing future offenses.
