ALAN BAINBRIDGE SENTENCED IN WARRINGTON FOR HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL ABUSE OFFENCES
A 62-year-old man named Alan Bainbridge from Warrington has been jailed after authorities uncovered disturbing images and videos involving child abuse and bestiality.Liverpool Crown Court heard that Bainbridge possessed and shared numerous indecent images, including graphic content of children being sexually abused and videos depicting the rape of a five-year-old girl.
Prosecutor Robert Wyn-Jones explained that on May 12 last year, police acted on intelligence and executed a search of Bainbridge's residence.
During the search, officers seized multiple electronic devices which, after forensic analysis, revealed the extent of his illegal content.
Bainbridge chose to answer no comment during police interviews.
The devices contained 151 Category A images, which depict the most severe abuse involving children, 87 Category B images, and 263 Category C images.
The majority of the images involved young girls around eight years old.
Additionally, Bainbridge stored 52 images related to bestiality involving dogs.
Wyn-Jones stated that Bainbridge had used various online chat forums to discuss child abuse, sharing highly disturbing videos, including one of a five-year-old girl and another of a girl approximately three years old being raped.
During police interviews, Bainbridge admitted to having an sexual interest in children and acknowledged that he had sent explicit images to others.
Although he has a history of good character, the court was informed.
Defence solicitor Kyra Badman noted Bainbridge had been forthcoming in the pre-sentence report, indicating a willingness to engage with rehabilitation services.
She added that Bainbridge has sought support from organizations such as the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, Samaritans, and local mental health services, expressing his desire to change.
Ms Badman explained Bainbridge recently retired, partly due to shame associated with his offences, and that his marriage has broken down, leading him to social isolation and mental health struggles.
Bainbridge, of Doward Street, Widnes, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including possession of indecent images of a child, making and distributing such images, and possession of extreme pornographic material.
Judge Recorder Eric Lamb addressed the court, saying, "By your age you should know much better than to behave in the way you have done, bringing yourself before the court." He acknowledged the difficulties Bainbridge had faced, including social isolation and poor mental health, but emphasized that genuine remorse was evident.
The judge concluded that the severity of the crimes warranted immediate custody, but taking into account the conditions of prisons during the pandemic, Bainbridge's sentence was reduced from two years to one year and 10 months.
Furthermore, the court ordered Bainbridge to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and to register as a sex offender for the same duration.
