Redditch Domestic Homicide
Akeel Hussain, a 30-year-old resident of Pembroke Croft in Birmingham, was found guilty of the murder of his pregnant partner, Kirsty Wright. Ms Wright, aged 21, suffered multiple stab wounds at a home on Evesham Road in Redditch on 15 March. She died from her injuries the following day in hospital. During the proceedings at Worcester Crown Court in 2014, Hussain initially denied involvement in the murder but later changed his plea to guilty. He received a life sentence with a minimum term of 19 years. The case was especially tragic as Ms Wright was 13 weeks pregnant with her second child at the time of her death. Her parents expressed deep sorrow, stating that her death had 'ripped our family apart' and recalling her excitement about becoming a mother again and her devotion to her two-year-old son. Authorities confirmed her pregnancy and described the attack as particularly brutal, marking a heartbreaking chapter for those close to her.
