Three individuals have been found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl at an address on Holland Road in Felixstowe.Arturas Bagdziunas, aged 29, from Leeward Court, Felixstowe; Mindaugas Mickevicius, aged 31, residing on Holland Road; and Aivaras Urbonas, aged 26, of Beach Road West, were convicted at Ipswich Crown Court today of assaulting the teenager on New Year’s Day 2010.
Detective Sergeant Tamlyn Burgess remarked: "This was a heinous assault on a young girl who has been deeply affected by her experience.
Despite this, she displayed great bravery in seeing the case through to justice.
Her courage, along with the diligent work of DC Hannah Martin and the supporting officers, contributed to the successful outcome.
Suffolk Police take allegations of rape seriously and thoroughly investigate each case.
Incidents where victim and offender do not know each other are uncommon in Suffolk, and those involving multiple perpetrators are even rarer.
Non-consensual sex constitutes rape, and the conduct of this group was particularly abhorrent.
We hope these verdicts offer some solace to the victim and assist her in moving forward.
Additionally, the jury was unable to reach a verdict concerning a fourth defendant, Edgaras Sliburis.
The four defendants faced a combined total of 19 charges, either individually or as part of an organized group.
