DUNFERMLINE WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF ASSAULTING ELDERLY WOMAN
Aimee Lee was convicted by a jury of assault resulting in severe injury, permanent disfigurement, and impairment. The incident occurred in Cowdenbeath’s Johnston Park in July 2021, where she was said to have run at Mary Anderson “like a raging bull” before pushing her to the ground.
The victim, then aged 74, suffered fractures to her cheekbone and wrist, needed stitches in her eyebrow, which is still lumpy, and was left unconscious with her head “bouncing off the pavement”.
Witnesses, including Mrs Anderson and George Smith, described the incident and denied that Mrs Anderson had initiated the push.
Lee admitted to pushing Mrs Anderson in retaliation but denied using excessive force, stating she was shocked at her arrest and did not intend to hurt anyone.
The court found Lee guilty of assault causing severe injury, dishing her consequences and highlighting her as a violent offender.
Probation reports will be gathered before sentencing scheduled for March 9, and she was granted bail.
The court did not find provocation for the assault, and Lee expressed remorse through her legal representatives.
