Ramsey Rapist
In a case that has shocked the community of Ramsey, a young man named Aiden McMahon has been sentenced to six years and six months in prison after admitting to the heinous crime of raping a 10-year-old boy. The incident took place at McMahon's residence on Clifton Drive, where the assault occurred in his bedroom on April 7th of the previous year.

During the proceedings at Douglas Courthouse, the court was informed that McMahon had exploited the vulnerability of his young victim and had betrayed the trust placed in him by the child's parents. The court heard that McMahon, who was 19 at the time, had taken the boy out for the day under false pretenses, claiming he had won a prize that granted free travel on the Isle of Man’s railway system. This ruse was used to lure the child away from his usual environment.

After arriving in Ramsey, McMahon took the boy to his home, where he subjected him to a bath. It was then that McMahon told the child that it was 'a rule' to get undressed and go to bed, a statement that was part of his manipulative tactics. The court was also told that it took five months for the victim to disclose what had happened. When he finally revealed the assault, police were immediately contacted, and McMahon was arrested.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the supposed travel prize McMahon had claimed to possess did not exist, further highlighting the deception used to facilitate the crime. McMahon, who was 18 at the time of the offense, pleaded guilty to the charge of rape. In his plea, he acknowledged that he had committed a 'terrible offence' but insisted that the act was not premeditated.

Deemster Montgomerie, presiding over the case, sentenced McMahon to an extended period of imprisonment for license purposes. The court also ordered that McMahon be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order until further notice. The judge emphasized the breach of trust and exploitation involved in the case, underscoring the severity of the crime and the impact on the young victim.
