AIDAN SPENCER'S CRIMINAL REIGN IN CHESTERFIELD: ANIMAL ABUSE AND VIOLENT ASSAULTS REVEALED

Aidan Peter Spencer, born on May 14, 1997, and residing at Langhurst Court, Wenlock Close, Loundsley Green, Chesterfield S40 4PE, has a troubling history of criminal behavior that has brought him into the courts multiple times. His most recent conviction involves serious allegations of animal cruelty and violent assault, highlighting a pattern of concerning conduct.

In a case that drew attention from local authorities and the community, Spencer was found guilty in 2019 of two separate offenses related to animal welfare. The first involved the aggressive mishandling of a dog, where he was accused of causing unnecessary suffering through manhandling and displaying aggression towards the animal. The court heard that his actions were not only physically harmful but also demonstrated a blatant disregard for the well-being of the dog.

Additionally, Spencer pleaded guilty to keeping a snake in deplorable conditions, which constituted causing unnecessary suffering to the creature. The court found that the snake was kept in poor and inappropriate circumstances, further emphasizing Spencer’s neglect and cruelty towards animals.

As a result of these convictions, Spencer was sentenced to a 12-week prison term, which was suspended for 12 months. His sentence included several conditions aimed at rehabilitation, such as an Alcohol Treatment Requirement, participation in a Thinking Skills Programme, and a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. Furthermore, he was ordered to pay a total of £328.83 in compensation to the victims, along with a £115 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs. The court also disqualified him from owning or keeping any animals for a period of seven years, a measure intended to prevent further cruelty.

Spencer’s criminal record extends beyond animal cruelty. In March 2020, he appeared again in court, this time for threatening behavior during an altercation with his girlfriend. The magistrates responded by extending his existing community order by six months and adding three months to his alcohol treatment programme. He was also fined £120, ordered to pay £85 in costs, and a £30 victim surcharge.

His most severe conviction came in February 2022, when Spencer was sentenced to four and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The incident involved him stabbing a neighbor with a broken bottle following hours of drinking at the victim’s flat. The court heard that Spencer refused to leave the premises, which escalated the situation into violence. The victim sustained wounds that required hospital treatment and now bears a permanent 3cm scar. Spencer later claimed to police that he had no recollection of the attack, attributing his actions to a binge involving alcohol and Valium.

It was also revealed that Spencer was on a suspended sentence for possession of a blade at the time of the assault. His criminal history includes four convictions for six offenses, notably including the cruelty to animals case. During sentencing, Recorder Simon Gurney remarked on the severity of the attack, stating, “You smashed a beer bottle on a table and stabbed the jagged edge of it into him just below the chest. Fortunately for him and for you, you did not hit any organs or arteries.”

Will Bennett, representing Spencer, explained that his client was struggling to cope with the serious illnesses of both his parents at the time of the assault. Bennett added, “He woke in the police cell having no recollection of what happened, he bears the victim absolutely no animosity whatsoever and he is sorry for acting in the way that he did.”

Spencer’s criminal activities and repeated offenses underscore a troubling pattern of violence and cruelty that has significantly impacted his community in Chesterfield.
