AHMED ELBASRY AND SHOCKING SEXUAL INCIDENT AT BOYS IN BOULDER'S BOURNEMOUTH PIER

A man from Bournemouth has been convicted of a disturbing incident involving a sexual act in a public ladies’ toilet, witnessed by three young girls.

The case drew swift and decisive judgment from the jury, who took less than two hours to unanimously find Ahmed Elbasry guilty of all charges.

Elbasry, aged 38, had pleaded not guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and his trial was held at Bournemouth Crown Court.

The trial lasted three days, during which detailed evidence was presented, culminating in the jury’s guilty verdict on Thursday, August 17.

The allegations stem from an incident at the seafront toilets located on Undercliff Drive, near Boscombe Pier, on the evening of May 8 the previous year.

Prosecutor Tom Wright outlined to the court that the victims, aged between 11 and 13, had been visiting the beach with their families when they decided to use the public toilets before heading home.

According to the girls, they were the only individuals inside the women’s restroom at the time of the incident.

While inside, they observed the defendant in the corridor outside the stalls.

The victims testified that Elbasry was staring at them and smiling.

They further described how he exposed himself, with his underwear, which they identified as boxer shorts, pulled down to his thighs.

During the proceedings, the defense argued that the clothing Elbasry was wearing at the time included what appeared to be green swimming trunks and chino shorts.

The girls recounted how Elbasry was touching himself and how frightened they felt during the encounter.

The court learned that the girls responded to the distress by locking themselves inside two separate cubicles.

Elbasry then entered the only remaining stall, which was adjacent to them.

One of the girls, who was 13 years old, told the court that Elbasry attempted to put his head through the gap at the bottom of the partition separating the stalls.

She also described how he extended his arm underneath the partition in an effort to reach and grab them.

The victims began screaming for help, and their calls for assistance were answered when one of their parents, contacted over the phone, arrived at the scene and entered the toilet block.

This intervention ultimately prevented further harm, and Elbasry was seen leaving the cubicle he had been in and entering the men’s toilets, where he quickly pulled up his shorts.

Prosecutor Wright highlighted that the defendant was challenged by the parents and detained in the area until police officers arrived to arrest him.

Elbasry’s account of the events, both in a police interview and during his court testimony, differed significantly from the evidence presented.

Though he denied entering a women's cubicle or engaging in any inappropriate activity during the interview, he later explained in court that he simply needed to use the toilet and had momentarily pulled his penis out before entering the stall.

His legal representative, Nick Cotter, suggested to the jury that Elbasry's actions could have been a genuine mistake—accidentally entering the women’s restroom rather than the men’s.

The judge, William Mousley KC, responded by remanding Elbasry, who resides on Marina Close in Bournemouth, on unconditional bail.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Monday, October 2, at Bournemouth Crown Court.
