Adrian Sellick

Launceston Whitstone Sexual Abuser

Febuary 2011 Man, 50, escapes with liberty after conditional jail sentence A JUDGE has told a sex offender from North Cornwall who had pictures of young boys on his computer that he was being merciful in not sending him straight to prison. Adrian Sellick, 50, has by his own admission an interest in pre-pubescent boys, prosecutor Iain Leadbetter told Truro Crown Court on Friday. When police officers visited his Launceston home in September, 2009, he said, they found on his computer a total of 148 indecent images, all at the least serious level. Sellick, who has since married and moved to Paradise Park, Whitstone, admitted a total of five charges. In 1996, revealed Mr Leadbetter, Sellick was jailed for 30 months for indecent assault and having indecent pictures, and in 2002, again for indecent images, he was made the subject of a rehabilitation order. Defence counsel Paul Rowsell stressed that it was nine years since Sellick’s last conviction, and it was 16 months since he had committed these offences. It had been a real struggle for him, but the seriousness of his offending had not escalated. Recorder Michael Hubbard QC said he believed he was being merciful in imposing a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, coupled with two years of supervision and an order to participate in the internet sex offenders’ programme. “If you ever come back for similar offences you will go down to the cells for a very long time,” he warned. The Recorder imposed a sex offenders’ prevention order and instructed Sellick to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next seven years.
