ADRIAN POLLOCK OF UPTON SENTENCED IN LIVERPOOL FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In November 2001, Adrian Pollock, a 23-year-old graduate from Upton, was sentenced to nine months in prison after authorities discovered thousands of child pornography images on his computer and CD-ROMs.

Judge Brian Lewis described the images as "truly repulsive" and expressed concern about the future well-being of the children depicted, stating, "One can only speculate how these children will cope in the future.

You played your part in their degradation." The judge also ordered Pollock to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for ten years.

Pollock's case was notably the first to be prosecuted following the simultaneous execution of 44 search warrants across the country, a crackdown initiated by Manchester Police Force’s obscene publications squad.

He had pleaded guilty to six counts of possessing indecent photographs, six counts of making such images, and three counts of distributing them.

Prosecutor Geoffrey Fryar outlined that police seizures of Pollock’s computer and CD-ROMs revealed a vast number of both child and adult pornography images, with evidence indicating some images had been shared through chat rooms.

Defense lawyer Christine Johnson emphasized that Pollock had no prior convictions and suggested that his excessive internet use was triggered by a recent breakup.

She described him as having been raised in a loving family and stated that he had begun to suffer from an adjustment disorder following the breakup, recommending that he would benefit from therapy.
