May 2018 Pervert to sign sex offender’s register for 10 years over haul of indecent images of children A former care home worker accused of taking indecent pictures of children – some at the most depraved level in law – has narrowly avoided an immediate jail term.

St Annes man Adrian Murgatroyd, 49, now of Station Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children, and one of possessing them during a hearing at Preston Crown Court.

The Honorary Recorder of Preston, Judge Mark Brown, imposed a 12 month jail term but agreed to suspend it for two years.

Murgatroyd was also ordered to complete a 35 day rehabilitation activity requirement.

For the next decade he must sign the sex offender’s register, and he will be subject to the terms of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) controlling his access to the internet and young people It is understood the charges relate to possessing 381 indecent pictures of children – 233 of these are said to be category A images which are the most serious in law showing the rape and torture of children The offences took place during a period between January 2014 and September 2017.

Murgatroyd, formerly of Hilton Avenue, St Annes, has filed for bankruptcy, with a bankruptcy order granted on February 26.
