ADRIAN DURRANT IN SWANSEA SPARED JAIL BUT MUST REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER
In June 2009, Adrian Durrant, a man from Swansea, was found guilty of molesting a schoolgirl and was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years.
Durrant, 41, from Bronwydd, Birchgrove, Swansea, was reported to have touched the breasts of his young victim over her clothing on two occasions.
In addition, he offered the teenager money in exchange for allowing him to touch her.
When she refused, he claimed he had been joking.
He pleaded guilty at Swansea Crown Court to two counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
In his sentencing, Judge Peter Heywood stated that he did not believe a custodial sentence was appropriate.
Instead, he was willing to follow a probation officer’s recommendation to impose a three-year community order.
This order would involve intensive supervision by professionals through a sex offender group work programme.
The judge also prohibited Durrant from ever working with children and warned that any breach of the community order would lead to a quick return to court and likely custody time.
Durrant was additionally ordered to pay prosecution costs amounting to £722.
