A man named Adrian Duke, aged 37 and residing on Russell Street in Peterborough, has been sentenced to jail after a series of aggressive and intimidating actions aimed at a woman to force her to drop domestic abuse charges against him. Over a period from September to December, Duke called the woman more than 400 times over three days, attempting to coerce her into withdrawing her accusations. Additionally, he reportedly hid in her house when police visited and threatened her with violence if she read her statement in court. Despite her withdrawing the charges, she later confided in officers about his actions. Duke pleaded guilty to intimidating a witness or juror and was sentenced to one year and ten months in custody at Cambridge Crown Court. Authorities emphasized that victims should feel safe contacting the police without fear of repercussions, and this sentence aims to serve justice and help the victim move forward.
