Two men from Croydon, Adhamon Mebrahtu, aged 23, and Jamie Osman, also aged 23, have been sentenced to prison for forcibly entering a woman's home and sexually assaulting and raping her. The incident began after the offenders followed their victim home after meeting her on a tram. Once at her residence, they barged into her building and carried out the assault inside her own home. Mebrahtu also admitted to stealing the victim's phone. The victim reported the attack to the police, who linked the DNA evidence from stubbed-out cigarettes found in her bedroom to both offenders. Mebrahtu was additionally forensically linked to the victim after detailed analysis by the Met Police. Despite denying interaction during interviews, CCTV footage was used to prove their involvement. Mebrahtu was previously found guilty of rape and sexual assault by penetration, and he was sentenced on 25 April to five years in prison at Croydon Crown Court. Osman was sentenced to three years following a retrial in September 2024, convicted of sexual assault by penetration. Detectives praised the victim’s bravery and emphasized their commitment to combatting sexual violence, with the investigation-led by DC Paul Harakis.
