ADAM SWIFT'S HORRIFIC ATTACK IN LINCOLN: CHILLING SEX FANTASY UNVEILED
| Red Rose Database
Lincoln Rapist
In July 2010, a disturbing incident unfolded in Lincoln that has left the community shaken. A man named Adam Swift targeted a vulnerable 14-year-old girl as she was walking home alone through Boultham Park, a well-known area in Lincoln. The court was told that Swift carried out a brutal and calculated assault, driven by a disturbing sexual fantasy he had seen on the internet.
The young girl, who was understandably terrified, managed to scream during the attack, which caused Swift to flee the scene in a panic. In his haste to escape, he dropped a bag, which was quickly discovered by a woman who was nearby. The contents of this bag shocked her to the core and prompted an immediate call to the police. Prosecutor Jonathon Dee described the items inside as resembling a 'rape kit,' highlighting their sinister nature.
Inside the bag, investigators found a large kitchen knife with a 12-inch blade, which had tape wrapped around the handle. Also present were a noose made from a rope, cable ties, condoms, and two rolls of tape—items that clearly indicated premeditation and intent to commit a sexual assault.
Later that same day, Adam Swift returned to his family home in Lincoln, visibly distressed and claiming he had been chased while in Boultham Park. His parents, believing he was a victim rather than the perpetrator, contacted the police. When officers arrived, they found a lock knife inside Swift’s car, leading to his immediate arrest.
Further investigation into Swift’s electronic devices revealed a disturbing collection of pornographic videos. One such video depicted a man lying in wait for a woman, then drugging and tying her up before proceeding to rape her. Police also uncovered internet searches related to bondage and sexual fantasies, which provided insight into Swift’s motives and mental state.
On March 24 of the same year, Swift, aged 29 and residing on Hykeham Road in Lincoln, admitted to charges of assault with intent to commit rape and possession of a knife. His actions and the evidence presented in court painted a picture of a man with dangerous intentions. The court sentenced him to an indefinite jail term for public protection, with a minimum of three years before he could be considered for parole.
Additionally, Swift was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and was permanently banned from working with children. Judge Michael Heath described the case as 'chilling' and emphasized the dangerous nature of Swift’s actions, stating, 'The facts of this case are chilling. You had with you what is correctly described as a rape kit. It is quite clear that what you had planned to do was act out a fantasy.'
He further explained that due to the severity and manner of the offense, Swift was considered a danger to the public and was sentenced to imprisonment for public protection. Defense lawyer Felicity Gerry pointed out that Swift had no previous convictions and had pleaded guilty. She also read a letter from Swift, in which he expressed deep remorse, stating, 'I deeply regret and I’m very sorry for my actions. There is no excuse for what I did.'
