SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR CREATING AI CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A convicted sex offender from Harlow has been jailed after using AI technology to create horrifying indecent images of children.Adam Evans, 51, of Jerounds, Harlow, was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court after officers discovered he had accessed and created AI-generated pseudo images so realistic they could easily be mistaken for real children.
Evans was already subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order following previous convictions for attempting to arrange the commission of a child sexual offence and attempting to incite a child into sexual activity in 2019.
But despite being under strict monitoring, the MOSOVO team were alerted in September 2025 after specialist risk-management software detected indecent material being accessed through an AI application on one of his devices.
Officers uncovered 13 pseudo indecent images of children during the investigation, with police describing the material as “so realistic” it could reasonably be perceived as genuine child abuse imagery.
During a search of Evans’ address, police also found an unregistered device — a direct breach of the conditions imposed on him as a registered sex offender.
Evans refused to answer questions during interview, but later pleaded guilty to nine counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo photographs of a child at Chelmsford Crown Court on October 6, 2025.
He was remanded in custody and on May 15 was sentenced to seven years overall — four years in prison followed by a further three years on extended licence.
MOSOVO officer Rivers warned: “Using AI to make indecent images of children is a criminal offence and Evans has rightly been sentenced for his offending.
This depraved act of using AI is treated just as seriously as using actual photographs.
Offenders who are thinking of engaging with this type of activity will be caught and face the full consequences of their actions.” The case is one of the clearest warnings yet that police are now actively targeting offenders who use artificial intelligence technology to create child abuse material, even where no real photographs were used.
—————————————————————————————————— In April 2020, a man from Harlow, identified as Adam Evans, was sentenced to serve three years in prison after admitting to serious child sex offences.
The case drew significant attention due to the nature of the crimes and the location involved.
Adam Evans, who resides in Rectory Wood, Harlow, was arrested in June of the previous year following an investigation into his inappropriate communications with a minor.
It was established that Evans had engaged in conversations of a sexual nature with a girl he believed to be only 13 years old.
These interactions raised alarm bells and prompted law enforcement to take swift action.
Evans appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, April 7, via a video link, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
The charges included attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, arranging or facilitating the commission of sexual activity with a child, and breaching a sexual harm prevention order that had previously been imposed on him.
His admission of guilt was a significant development in the case, highlighting the severity of his actions.
Following the hearing, the court sentenced Evans to a term of 36 months in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to continue adhering to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from potential harm.
The case underscores ongoing efforts by authorities to combat child exploitation and ensure offenders are held accountable for their actions.
