NORTH SHIELDS MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND GROOMING
Adam Courtney-Kasher, who was only a teenager at the time of the offenses, has been given a 12-year prison sentence for sexually abusing a young boy.The assault was described as relentless and involved ongoing, serious sexual misconduct within the Cramlington area during the late 1990s.
Now aged 40 and living on Tynemouth Road in North Shields, Courtney-Kasher appeared in Durham Crown Court to face charges including gross indecency, indecent assault, and rape.
Despite a conviction following a four-day trial, he continues to deny the allegations.
The man now an adult victim bravely came forward after becoming a father himself, recounting how he was a fearful young boy who was afraid to speak out and felt vulnerable and anxious because of the abuse.
He expressed his pain with the words, 'I will never forgive you for harming me.' Prosecutor Jon Harley explained that Courtney-Kasher befriended the young victim, who was under 10 at the time, while Courtney-Kasher was somewhat older, and that the abuse happened in empty houses.
The judge, Jo Kidd, highlighted Courtney-Kasher’s predatory actions, describing him as someone who took advantage of opportunities to carry out 'very serious sexual assaults,' engaging in extensive grooming and deception of the victim.
Courtney-Kasher was sentenced to 12 years in prison, ordered to be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and will remain on the sex offender register permanently.
His defense team stated he has no relevant prior convictions, is married with children, and is attempting to turn a new leaf in prison.
Nonetheless, the court acknowledged that his actions have caused significant suffering to the victim.
