ADAM BANKS FROM WIGAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wigan, a man named Adam Banks has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous crimes involving a young girl. The incident, which unfolded over social media platforms, revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that culminated in the exploitation and attempted prostitution of an underage victim.
It was reported that Banks, aged 33 and residing in Wigan, initiated contact with the girl through social media channels.
Over time, he manipulated her into sending him explicit photographs, which he described as for his own 'disgusting sexual gratification.' As the messages progressed, Banks's requests became increasingly explicit, and he began encouraging the girl to sell her sexual services, claiming he could facilitate these arrangements.
Throughout this period, Banks maintained persistent communication with the victim, often offering her money as an incentive to comply with his demands.
The situation escalated when Banks, having convinced the girl to send inappropriate images, took the step of texting other men, offering her to them for sexual purposes.
This act of attempting to prostitute a minor was a clear indication of his predatory intent.
On one notable occasion, Banks met the girl in his car and informed her that he had arranged for her to meet four men later in the week.
Fortunately, someone close to the victim became suspicious of the ongoing exchanges and reported their concerns to the police.
This timely intervention allowed law enforcement officers to act swiftly before Banks could carry out further plans.
Subsequently, police arrested Banks in Leeds, and a raid was conducted at his residence in Hindley Green, Wigan.
During the search, officers seized his mobile phone, which proved instrumental in uncovering the full extent of his criminal activities.
The evidence collected led to Banks pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to multiple charges, including two counts of arranging the sexual exploitation of a child, three counts of distributing indecent images of a child, and one count of making (downloading) an indecent image of a child.
On Monday, June 11, at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, Banks was sentenced to a prison term of two years and eight months.
In addition to his incarceration, he was subjected to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further offenses.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable young individuals from predators like Adam Banks.
