A man has received a life sentence following conviction for kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

Adam Baillie, 39 (born 16 May 1985), of Spring Way in Harrow, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 10 years. He was found guilty of kidnapping and sexual assault of a girl who was not known to him.

The court heard that on 19 April 2024, Baillie abducted the girl as she was returning home from primary school in Harrow, then took her to his residence where he subjected her to serious sexual assault. The girl managed to escape, and with assistance from neighbors, she alerted the police.

With police support, she was able to identify Baillie’s property, leading to his arrest.

He was convicted on 16 October 2024 at Harrow Crown Court of kidnapping and sexual assault, as well as causing actual bodily harm during the kidnapping.

PC Georgia Devaney-Brighton, the Sexual Offences Investigative Techniques Officer involved in the case, stated: “Today we achieved justice for this courageous girl and I hope the severity of the sentence can provide some comfort to her and her family.

This was an appalling crime which sent shockwaves through the local community. This young victim has demonstrated remarkable bravery throughout this process, and her strength and willingness to cooperate with authorities have been crucial in securing the conviction. I want to thank her and her family for their trust in the police and for their resilience during such a distressing time.”
