In a case that has spanned over three years, Adam Appleby, a 57-year-old man from Campsall, Doncaster, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl. The abuse reportedly took place more than twenty years ago, when the victim was just nine years old.

Appleby, who at the time of the offenses was employed as a clown and ringmaster for a traveling circus, was brought to justice after a lengthy investigation and legal process. The case was heard at Doncaster Crown Court, where on May 8th, 2012, the jury found him guilty of two counts of indecent assault against a child under the age of 13.

The legal proceedings against Appleby were protracted, taking approximately three years from the initial investigation to the final verdict. The court's decision reflected the severity of his crimes, which had remained hidden for many years.

In sentencing, the judge imposed a custodial term of three and a half years, emphasizing the gravity of the offenses committed by Appleby. Additionally, the court ordered him to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely upon his release from prison, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

Throughout the proceedings and after sentencing, Appleby displayed no remorse for his actions, a fact that was noted during the court hearing. His lack of remorse and the nature of his crimes have left a lasting impact on the victim and the community in Doncaster, where the case has garnered significant attention.
