VILE RAMSGATE SEX OFFENDER REPEATEDLY ATTACKED TEENAGER AND PAID HER TO STAY SILENT
A sex offender from Ramsgate has been sentenced to jail following multiple sexual assaults on a teenage girl.
The abuse started in 2022 when Abdurahrim Yalcin, 56, of Norman Road, Ramsgate, began to act inappropriately towards his victim, who was 16 at the time.
His behaviour quickly became more depraved, and the assaults became more severe with the victim reporting that she was touched both over and under her clothing on multiple occasions.
Yalcin sought to keep his behaviour a secret and bought the victim clothes as well as offering money in an attempt to buy her silence.
The victim reported the assaults to police on 5 September 2023, after she realised his behaviour was not only escalating, but was unlikely to stop.
In total, the abuse spanned around 10 months.
Yalcin was arrested the same day the report was made to police and was later charged with three counts of sexual assault.
He maintained his innocence and pled not guilty at his first court appearance at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on 26 June 2024.
Following a three day trial at Canterbury Crown Court, a jury found him guilty of sexual assault.
On Thursday 30 October, Yalcin was sentenced to 18 months in jail, and will remain on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
