ABULLAH KAYA FROM GOWKTHRAPPLE JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT NEAR WISHAW KEBAB SHOP
In December 2016, a man named Abdullah Kaya was sentenced to a 10-month prison term following his conviction for sexually assaulting a teenage girl outside a kebab shop in Wishaw.
The incident, which spanned over a period of five months, took place in the vicinity of the Istanbul Kebab Shop located on Stewarton Street.
Abdullah Kaya, a 35-year-old resident of Gowkthrapple, was found guilty after standing trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court last month.
The court proceedings revealed disturbing details of Kaya’s actions, which included kissing the 16-year-old girl on her face, touching her body inappropriately, and even sitting on top of her during the assault.
The court also heard that Kaya exposed his private parts to the young girl and ejaculated on her clothing during the series of attacks.
The assaults occurred between November 1, 2013, and March 31, 2014, within the car park of the Istanbul Kebab Shop.
The court was told that Kaya’s behavior was both invasive and predatory, causing significant distress to the victim.
Following his conviction, Kaya returned to Hamilton Sheriff Court last week for sentencing.
In addition to his prison sentence, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for the next ten years, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the community from further harm.
