ST ALBANS MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DAYLIGHT RAPE
A 20-YEAR-OLD man from St Albans, Abdul Tahed, was sentenced to six years in a young offenders institution for a horrific sexual assault on an 18-year-old girl. The incident occurred in broad daylight at a children's play area in Toulmin Drive, where Tahed lured the victim to an enclosed climbing frame, then turned on her once they were inside and hidden from view.
During the attack, he called her a "nigger" and a "ho," threatened to infect her with maggots, and subjected her to brutal assault, forcing her to perform a sex act, raping her, and spitting on her.
Witnesses heard her screams from over 60 yards away, and she was seen running in shock across a busy road after fleeing.
The victim, who has undergone counseling and is now at university, continues to suffer anxiety and trust issues.
Tahed, who was a shop assistant before his arrest, showed no remorse and refused to accept the verdict at his conviction on December 9.
His defense claimed he was concerned about his family's reputation within the Muslim community.
Since his conviction, he has been held at HMP Woodhill, where he had to be moved to segregation for safety reasons and now faces spending the rest of his sentence in isolation, as well as indefinite registration on the sex offenders list.
