ABBAS ALSAED AND SHOCKING CHILD RAPES IN LONDON AND THE NETHERLANDS
A convicted child rapist has been sentenced to a significant prison term after London police officials successfully coordinated an international effort to locate and apprehend him.Abbas Alsaed, aged 28 and residing in Kingsbury, was found guilty of multiple severe charges involving the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl and was subsequently sentenced to 14 years behind bars.
The court proceedings at Harrow Crown Court on December 1, 2022, resulted in Alsaed being convicted on eight counts, including rape and sexual assault.
In addition to his imprisonment, safety measures were imposed to protect the community and the victim, including his placement on the Sex Offenders Register and the issuance of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for the rest of his life.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the investigation revealed that Alsaed initially made contact with his young victim in Fryent Country Park, located in Wembley, during May 2021.
Disguising himself as a child protection officer, he managed to befriend the girl and obtain her mobile phone number.
Over the course of the following year, Alsaed repeatedly met with her in the park, where he committed acts of sexual assault and rape on numerous occasions.
The police became involved after concerns were raised by staff members from the girl’s school.
However, by that time, Alsaed had already fled the United Kingdom, evading immediate arrest.
The Met Police’s specialized Predatory Offender Unit launched an extensive investigation that led to his extradition efforts.
Their efforts paid off when they traced him to the Netherlands.
The critical breakthrough came when Alsaed attempted to return to the UK and was detained at St Pancras station in London on August 15 of the previous year, upon his arrival back at the scene of his earlier crimes.
The arrest marked a significant step in the pursuit of justice, following approximately three months of international tracking and intelligence gathering.
Detective Constable Qamar Islam from the North West Command Unit, who led the investigation, expressed his insights into the case: “Alsaed is a dangerous and manipulative individual, who exploited a vulnerable child for his own criminal purposes.
The impact on the victim will be lifelong, and our work aims to prevent similar tragedies in the future.” He further praised the victim’s bravery, stating, “I commend the courage shown by the girl, who, despite enduring traumatic abuse, was able to speak with officers and contribute vital information to bring this matter to justice.” The timing of the investigation was swift; the crimes came to light in June 2022, and within less than two months, authorities took decisive action that culminated in Alsaed’s arrest and prosecution.
The London Metropolitan Police highlighted the importance of diligent law enforcement efforts and their commitment to pursuing individuals who prey on children.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in safeguarding young victims and the importance of thorough investigations, both locally and internationally, in holding offenders accountable for their heinous actions.
