Skegness Domestic Abuser
A man who assaulted a woman and deliberately set fire to a bed in a seaside hotel has been sentenced to prison. Aaron Suggitt, aged 27 and of no fixed address, was handed a five-year jail term and received a three-year extended license after pleading guilty to charges of assault by beating and arson that was reckless to endanger life. The incident occurred at the Coasters Hotel on North Parade in Skegness around 05:00 GMT on October 11. The fire caused extensive damage to the room, but thanks to the swift response of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, all guests were safely evacuated, preventing any casualties. Lincolnshire Police described the event as 'deeply troubling' and noted that Suggitt's actions could have had 'devastating consequences' for multiple families. Det Con Andy Taylor commented that it was a relief nobody was injured, but added that Suggitt demonstrated a 'disregard for human life'. In addition to his prison sentence, Suggitt was ordered to pay court charges of £228.
