BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSER SENTENCED FOR ORCHESTRATING HORRIFIC VIOLENCE
A violent offender named Aaron Matthews, aged 28, committed a series of brutal domestic abuse acts against his partner.According to court reports, he put his fingers inside her mouth and pulled her like a hook before suffocating her.
The criminal also pushed her into a fish tank, causing injuries, and threw a dresser at her, among various other assaults.
Matthews frequently engaged in controlling and coercive behavior, calling his partner degrading names such as "fat," "ugly," and "a "money-grabber," while also making remarks that her family didn't care about her and expressing surprise that her mother hadn’t harmed her.
During a court hearing at Newport Crown Court, prosecutor Julia Cox detailed these violent incidents, mentioning that Matthews repeatedly assaulted her with fists, threw objects like a large lamp and a dresser, and even held his hand over her nose and mouth for several seconds, making her fear she would suffocate.
The court heard that Matthews used physical violence and emotional abuse, damaging property, and manipulating his partner into believing such behavior was normal.
He later pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behavior, intentional suffocation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.
The judge sentenced him to 32 months in prison and issued an 11-year restraining order.
The victim shared her distress, saying she felt guilty and broken after the abuse, losing her confidence and becoming dependent on Matthews.
The court's verdict aims to protect her from further harm.
