Hartlepool Crook Billingham Child Sexual Abuser
In a series of disturbing revelations spanning several years, Aaron LeDean, a former teacher from Crook, County Durham, has been linked to multiple serious offenses involving the abuse of young boys across Billingham, Crook, and Hartlepool.

His criminal activities first came to light in 2008 when police raided his flat in Hartlepool, uncovering thousands of indecent images and videos of children as young as eight. The investigation revealed that LeDean had accessed numerous child pornography sites and participated in chatroom exchanges involving such material. Despite these grave findings, he was given a suspended sentence of nine months, coupled with a two-year supervision order, and was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years. The court emphasized that his offenses were committed outside his professional duties at St Michael’s RC Comprehensive School in Billingham, where he had worked for seven years.

LeDean’s troubling history continued to unfold. In 2013, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in the 1990s. The victim, who was a minor at the time, had developed a crush on LeDean, who was in his 20s, and consented to their activities after being taken to venues in Middlesbrough and introduced to the gay scene. The court heard that LeDean exploited the boy’s youth, inexperience, and uncertain sexuality. He was sentenced to four years in prison, with an additional three-and-a-half years on license upon release. The judge described LeDean as a danger to the public and noted that he had destroyed his victim’s life.

In 2018, LeDean’s criminal conduct extended further when he admitted to grooming and abusing a 14-year-old boy in the early 2000s while residing in a Hartlepool marina flat. Prosecutor Aisha Wadoodi detailed how LeDean, who was then living in Hartlepool, treated the vulnerable teenager with cigarettes and frozen kebabs after the boy confided in him about family difficulties. The abuse was characterized as grooming behavior, with LeDean exploiting the teenager’s trust.

LeDean’s past convictions and ongoing offenses culminated in a second prison sentence. In June 2018, at Teesside Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child. The court was told that the impact statement from the victim was harrowing, illustrating the profound and lasting damage inflicted by LeDean’s actions. Judge Hickey emphasized that the grooming and abuse had led to serious consequences for the victim, describing the conduct as a course of grooming that escalated into more severe offenses against a highly vulnerable young man.

Throughout these proceedings, LeDean’s defense argued that he had undergone therapy and counseling, asserting that he was no longer attracted to children. Nevertheless, the court recognized the gravity of his offenses and the danger he posed. He was remanded in custody until his sentencing scheduled for June 11, 2018.

LeDean’s case highlights a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over a decade, involving multiple victims and locations. His actions have left a trail of trauma and have prompted ongoing discussions about safeguarding and the monitoring of individuals with such criminal histories. The courts have made it clear that his offenses are serious, and the community remains vigilant against such threats to vulnerable children and teenagers.
