DRUNK MAN FINED AFTER ASSAULTING 13-YEAR-OLD IN KEITH
A father-of-three named Aaron Kelman has been fined £470 after he assaulted a 13-year-old boy in a north-east street following a social gathering.Kelman, who is an engineer by profession, had been drinking at a birthday barbecue in Keith before he impulsively grabbed the boy by the throat and then punched him.
The boy was a stranger to Kelman, with no prior acquaintance.
Kelman admitted to the assault during his court appearance at Elgin Sheriff Court.
The police reports indicate the boy ran to his grandmother’s house for help after the incident.
According to the prosecution, the victim was heard to say “shut up” to a friend moments before Kelman, under the mistaken belief that the boy had spoken to him, grabbed his throat.
The court heard that Kelman held the boy by the neck and then delivered a fist to his face, causing red marks.
The boy managed to escape and sought help.
Medical assistance was not required.
Kelman, of Braco Street, expressed no clear memory of the event, claiming he was intoxicated at the time.
