BRIDGWATER MAN JAILED FOR FLASHING IN LEWD ACT OBSERVED BY BUS PASSENGER
A man with a love heart tattoo beneath his right eye fixated on a passenger on a bus while he engaged in a sexual act on himself, performing the act as he drove past in his van.Aaron Duffy, aged 28, had earlier served time for flashing supermarket employees.
On May 9, he committed this indecent act on the Southern bypass while he was already under a two-year suspended sentence for drug dealing.
On Monday, May 22, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Judge Maria Lamb commented: “You are responsible for your own misfortune.
It’s clear that the consequences of further offences would have been made very clear to you during the imposition of your suspended sentence in April 2021.
Although you continue to deny guilt for the offence for which you were convicted in the magistrates’ court, I must treat you as having committed that offence, which is not an isolated incident.” Prosecutor Alice Aubrey-Fletcher told Oxford Crown Court that a passenger on a bus observed Duffy in a passing van, 'naked from the waist down,' engaged in a sex act.
Despite denying the conduct during police questioning, Duffy was convicted of one count of indecent exposure and had nine previous convictions for 15 offences, including four related to exposure.
His prior conviction from April 2021 in North Wales involved possessing cocaine and other drugs.
During sentencing, Duffy expressed remorse and requested assistance, noting: “I clearly need help.”
