AARON BARTON, THE CANTERBURY SEXUAL PREDATOR, SENTENCED IN NOTTINGHAM FOR OFFENCES AGAINST 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community, Aaron Barton, a 30-year-old man from Canterbury, has been convicted of serious sexual offences committed against an 11-year-old girl in Annesley Woodhouse. The incident, which took place last year, led to Barton admitting to multiple charges during his court appearance at Nottingham Crown Court. On the day of sentencing, Judge Dudley Bennett did not hold back in condemning Barton, describing him as a dangerous sexual predator. The court heard that Barton had been bailed to an address in Canterbury at the time of the offences, raising concerns about the safety of the community and the adequacy of bail conditions in such serious cases.
Following his admission of guilt, Barton was handed an indefinite prison sentence, a measure taken to protect the public from further harm. The judge specified that Barton must serve a minimum of six years before he can be considered for parole or release, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the need for ongoing supervision.
In addition to his prison sentence, the court disqualified Barton from ever working with children again, a restriction aimed at preventing any future risk to vulnerable minors. Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring that his details remain accessible to authorities for monitoring and safeguarding purposes.
Judge Bennett’s remarks underscored the gravity of the offences, stating plainly, “You are a dangerous sexual predator.” The case has drawn significant attention to issues surrounding child safety, bail conditions, and the management of sex offenders within the community, particularly highlighting the risks posed by individuals from outside the immediate area who commit crimes locally.
