PENRITH MAN IN COURT ACCUSED OF MAKING THREATS TO KILL HIS WIFE
A Penrith man has appeared in court accused of using violence and making threats to kill his wife during a period spanning seven years.Forty-year-old Graeme Bell faces one charge.
This alleges that Bell engaged in controlling/coercive behaviour towards the woman.
Court papers allege that he did so by “using violence and making threats to kill” the woman during their marriage.
It is alleged that criminal conduct occurred between December 29, 2015, and September 29, 2021, in the Penrith area.
When Bell appeared in front of District Judge John Temperley at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court this morning, he stated that no plea to the allegation was being indicated at this stage.
After hearing submissions from prosecutor George Shelley, District Judge Temperley committed the case to Carlisle Crown Court.
Bell, who gave his address as King Street, Penrith, is due to appear there in front of a judge on May 23.
In the meantime, he was granted conditional bail
