Bilborough brothers sentenced after horrific catalogue of crimes

BILBOROUGH BROTHERS SENTENCED AFTER HORRIFIC CATALOGUE OF CRIMES

Two brothers involved in horrific sexual crimes have been sentenced to prison after being convicted of multiple offenses spanning over a quarter of a century.

Andrew Clark, aged 38, and his younger brother Jason Clark, aged 35, were found guilty last year of a series of serious sexual abuses against children.

The convicted individuals appeared in court on Tuesday, April 5, to receive their sentences following their trial.

Andrew, formerly of Denewood Crescent, Bilborough, preyed on six vulnerable children.

He was told by Judge Mark Watson his offences were on multiple victims over a protracted period, and could only be described as "abhorrent and cruel".

His total sentence was 22-and-a-half years in custody, with a one-year extension on his licence period when he is released.

He will be subject to the constraints of a sexual harm prevention order and to signing the sex offenders' register.

Detective Constable Ruth Statham of Nottinghamshire Police, leading the investigation, expressed gratitude to the victims for their courage in speaking out.

She emphasised the importance of their bravery, especially from those who previously feared or doubted being believed.

The detective assured that the police would continue to pursue justice regardless of how long ago the crimes occurred.

She described the acts committed by Andrew and Jason as unspeakable and hoped their convictions would provide some closure for the victims.

Statham credited the detailed and lengthy investigation to the dedication of the prosecution team, including lawyer Anne McCarroll and prosecutor Sally Hobson.

She concluded by stating that both brothers would have to face the consequences of their actions and reflect on the suffering they caused.
